USS Electra, the ship I served in from March of 1954 to May of 1955, when the ship was decommissioned, has held a ship's reunion every even-numbered year since the 1970's, but I learned of the reunions only a couple of years ago. I missed the 2004 reunion in Branson, Missouri, but was asked to organize the 2006 in Lake Tahoe, California.
Lake Tahoe is about 200 miles East of my home in San Mateo, right on the Nevada border. In the winter, at over 6,500 feet elevation, it's ski country, in Spring/Summer/Fall, its beautiful scenery and casino gaming make it a major tourist attraction.
Here are a few scenic photos; for pictures of the attendees, please visit the usselectra.org web site.
