Carnival (or Carneval) is a 450 year old tradition in Malta, held
just before the beginning of Lent, as it is in New Orleans and Rio de Janeiro.
The difference in Malta is that it is primarily the children who dress
in costumes and parade with their parents. There are also traditional floats,
parades in various towns and other celebrations.
